About Bhai Daya Singh Ji Nishkam Satsang Sabha (Regd.)
With the grace of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji and with the inspiration and blessings of great saint Bhai Guriqbal Singh Ji (Gurudwara Bibi Kaulan Ji, Sri Amritsar Sahib) an institution named Bhai Daya Singh Ji (Nishkam) Satsang Sabha (Regd.) was founded by Bhai Gursharan Singh Ji during the year 1997. This institution was established under the name of Bhai Daya Singh Ji who was the first one to rise at the call of Sri Guru Gobind Singh ji and offer his head, followed by four others in succession. These five Sikhs were the first to be admitted to the fold of Khalsa. Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji collectively called them, ‘Panj Pyaras'(Five beloved ones) and Bhai Daya Singh Ji was the chief of them. With Guru Sahib’s grace, he rose to be a great saint-soldier (Sant Sipahi) and like a devout Sikh remained in the sacred company of Sri Guru Gobind Singh ji throughout his whole life.
Why the Sabha is on the name of Bhai Daya Singh Ji
The life history of Bhai Daya Singh ji deeply impressed the founder of this institution Bhai Gursharan Singh Ji, because while going through the pages of Sikh history, he observed that Bhai Daya Singh ji occupied the unique position in khalsa Panth. He is the first ‘Singh’ of Khalsa Panth and has the honour of accomplishing the unique tasks assigned to him by Sri Guru Gobind Singh ji himself. These aspects of his personality, attracted the attention of the founder of this institution and he named this institution on his name.
Objectives of Bhai Daya Singh Ji Nishkam Satsang Sabha
‘Sewa’, ‘Simran’ and ‘Sarbat da bhala'(service and welfare of entire mankind) irrespective of any caste, creed or religion, were kept as the main objectives of this institution. A close look at the surroundings revealed to the founder and chief of this institution Bhai Gursharan Singh ji, that people were abandoning great spiritual values particularly the youngsters had deviated from the path shown by Ten guru sahiban and had become oblivious of their teachings enshrined in Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. He observed that a large number of sikh youth had also lost their sikh identity and were indulging in taking intoxicants. To bring them on the right track was felt to be a matter of great concern. Therefore the first and foremost task taken up by Bhai Gursharan Singh ji was to attune the people to ‘Shabad Guru’ Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji and to inculcate the great spiritual values preached by ‘Guru Sahiban’.
Apart from religious activities as stated above, Bhai Gursharan Singh Ji thought of opening charitable institutions for the service of mankind. The charitable hospitals were very much needed because the common man was suffering very badly due to costly treatments given by the hospitals. With the grace of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, Bhai Gursharan Singh Ji with the support of Saadh Sangat opened three charitable hospitals which provide best medical treatments affordable to the common man. Also Bhai Gursharan Singh Ji has opened a Computer Academy equipped with best equipments to provide best and computer education and Spoken English courses to the aspiring youngsters and grown ups which are very costly and deficient in the market.
